Site management / franchising

Waves operates a franchised system for site management that offer excellent rates of return.

Waves operates 3 types of car washing, sometimes separate, sometimes combined:

1. Full valet from dedicated area within the car park
2. At car trolley wash service within the car park
3. Stand-alone car wash and valeting centre e.g. ex-petrol stations and retail units

Our franchisees benefit from buying a proven business concept and from a full and comprehensive franchise package:

All of our packages include:

•   Full site set-up (including storage, and utility connections as per Waves / client requirements and drainage compliance to Environment Agency legislation).

•   Full equipment (this will vary depending upon the type of franchise purchased)

•   Starter pack of bio-degradable, high-quality detergents and consumables (many of which are Waves-branded)

•   Manager’s uniform and operator’s uniforms (winter or summer, with built-in hi-visibility paneling)

•   Marketing and promotions pack (including leaflets and promotional items such as balloons and mints)

•   Full initial and ongoing training

•   A dedicated Area Manager whose role is to support and assist you with the development of your business in line with Waves and client requirements. He does this through regular site visits and full-time telephone accessibility.

Franchise fees start from £17,500 + VAT depending upon the type of operation required. Thereafter there is a fee payable on an ongoing basis which includes payment to the landlord and Waves. Waves is delighted to have a broad mix of franchisees… some had never washed a car before starting, some had never employed people or run a business. Our training and support is designed to identify your strengths and to help you in areas where you have less experience or skills.

Our most successful franchisees all share several key character traits:

1. Communication skills: verbal and written
Waves’ clients require very high customer service levels from their franchisees: communication skills are vital to develop and maintain excellent ongoing relationships with customers and your local client contact (e.g. Store Manager, or Shopping Centre Manager).

2. Personal commitment and effort
Most importantly, you need to be prepared for the hard work and inevitable long hours that any new business requires. You also need to be:
  • In good health – start-ups (even successful franchise models) can be stressful and consuming
  • Self-motivated – the success of your business ultimately depends upon your own personal motivation
  • Well-presented – you will be customer-facing 100% of the time

3. Business skills and experience
You are not expected to have run your own business, but you must be able to demonstrate an understanding of and ability to do the following key business activities:
  • Organisation
  • Time-keeping
  • Cost control
  • Product and stock ordering

4. People management
Recruiting and retaining staff is one of the greatest challenges in this industry: your ability to maximise profit is dependent upon good people management skills: motivate, control and reward!
